I was just wondering if lads still know their Call Signs.? As most of you know, I was the Med Sgt for our Battalion. When in the field without my Regimental Medical Officer at my location, or, in the field, I had the Call sign Starlight. When the RMO returned to my location and was back in the field, I became Starlight One. 'Apples' being Motor Transport Sgt was 'Playtime'. Who was 'Acorn', 'Molar', 'Foxhound', 'Pronto' and others.?? Can any lad remember.??

.....what you mean,Mike, were called radio APPOINTMENT TITLES (also listed below)They were non-rank specific.
which meant they could stand for a senior (Pte.)soldier or a Colonel. For example, SEAGULL = 2/IC Sec, Pl.Sgt, CSM, RSM, Adjutant, etc
All this is not needed nowadays as all radio-traffic is encrypted & digital.
